Frequently asked questions

(See all questions and answers here)
A:

No, being naked is not required. In Finland, it's common to go nude in private saunas, but during our tours, guests usually wear swimsuits or use provided towels. You can choose what’s most comfortable for you - privacy and respect are always maintained.

A:

Many modern smartphones can capture the Northern Lights using night mode or a long exposure setting. Our guides will help you adjust your phone or camera settings for the best possible shot. For stunning photos, we recommend bringing a tripod and using manual settings.

A:

Yes! Thanks to Finland’s "Everyman’s Right" (jokamiehenoikeudet), anyone can freely pick wild berries and mushrooms in nature, as long as they respect the environment. Our guided tours help you do this safely and respectfully.

A:

Absolutely, bringing your own food or drinks on the tour is no problem at all! Many guests like to bring snacks or special items for their personal needs. We kindly ask that you avoid eating during transfers to keep vehicles clean and comfortable for everyone, and to be tidy and considerate when consuming food during the tour. Please note that alcoholic beverages are generally not included and may be subject to specific tour rules.

A:

Yes, we do our best to accommodate special dietary requirements. Please inform us about any allergies or dietary preferences at the time of booking so we can prepare suitable meals or snacks.

A:

Most of our tours require a minimum of two paying adults to operate. However, there are some exceptions, so please always check the specific tour description for details. Solo travelers are welcome to book; if the minimum group size is not yet met, we will confirm your tour closer to the date, suggest alternatives, or offer a private tour option.

A:

Consumption of alcohol is not allowed before or during any activities on our tours for safety reasons. If a participant is suspected to be intoxicated, they may be refused participation in the tour. However, once the day’s activities are completed, you are welcome to relax and enjoy a drink.

For tours that include a sauna experience, we are absolutely fine if guests want to bring a small bottle of beer or similar to enjoy during the sauna. Please note that alcohol is not sold at our sauna venues, so you will need to bring your own.

A:

While sightings are never guaranteed, Lapland is home to reindeer, moose, foxes, hares, eagles, owls, and a variety of other birds. Some tours are specifically designed to maximize the chances of spotting local wildlife. Your guide will help you observe tracks, signs, and animals - all while respecting and not disturbing the natural environment. Additionally, during the summer months, the wilderness is rich with wild berries and mushrooms, adding another delightful aspect to your nature experience.hiki

A:

Our hikes range from gentle nature walks to more demanding full-day treks. Each tour description includes an estimated duration and difficulty rating. If you're unsure which level is right for you, feel free to reach out - we're happy to help you choose the best option based on your fitness and preferences.

A:

Many of our hiking tours are family-friendly and suitable for children, especially those labeled as easy or moderate. However, each child is different. Please check the individual tour page for recommended age or difficulty level. We’re also happy to advise you based on your family’s preferences.

A:

We provide booster seats for older children upon request to help ensure a safe and comfortable ride. However, we do not offer infant or toddler car seats, as these require specific sizing based on the child’s age, weight, and height - and must often be secured using the IsoFix system, which is not available in all of our vehicles.

If your child requires a rear-facing or toddler car seat, we kindly ask you to bring your own. Please also note this in your booking and contact us in advance by email if you have specific safety seat requirements, so we can confirm whether the assigned vehicle is compatible.

Letting us know your children's ages, sizes, and needs ahead of time helps us provide the safest and most suitable arrangements possible.

A:

In most cases, regular strollers are not practical in Lapland’s snowy terrain - especially on forest trails or unpaved areas. We recommend using a baby carrier or a lightweight plastic sled (pulled by a rope), which many families find more convenient in the snow.

However, keep in mind that young children sitting still on a sled for long periods can get cold quickly. For this reason, it’s often more comfortable to keep moving or carry your child close to your body to retain warmth. If you need recommendations on what to bring or how to prepare, feel free to reach out - we’re happy to help make your family adventure enjoyable and safe!

A:

Our tours are designed with attention spans and energy levels in mind! Many include interactive elements, animal encounters, hands-on activities, or nature play - keeping children engaged throughout the adventure. If you’re looking for tours with shorter duration or more action, we’re happy to recommend the best fit for your family.

A:

All our tours in Lapland are designed to operate in a wide range of Arctic weather conditions - snow, wind, and cold are part of the adventure! However, your safety and comfort always come first. Our guides continuously monitor weather and trail conditions. In the event of extreme weather (e.g., temperatures below -30°C, blizzards, poor visibility), we may adjust the itinerary, shorten the tour, or replace certain elements for safety reasons.

We will always do our best to ensure you still have an enjoyable and memorable experience - even if the Northern Lights hide or the snow gets too deep!

A:

Combo Tours are curated experiences that combine two or more popular Arctic activities into a single itinerary. Instead of booking separate tours on different days, you can enjoy snowmobiling, husky & reindeer rides, reindeer & ice fishing encounters, Northern Lights hunting by snowmobiles, sauna experiences, and more - all in one seamless adventure. Transfers and timing are carefully arranged to make your day easy and enjoyable.

A:

Yes, most of our tours can be booked as private experiences upon request. Private tours offer greater flexibility, personalized attention from your guide, and a more intimate atmosphere — perfect for families, couples, or small groups. If you're interested in a private version of any tour, just let us know during the booking process, and we’ll be happy to arrange it.

A:

In most Arctic animal tours, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with the animals - whether it’s petting the huskies, feeding reindeer, or taking photos up close. However, the level of interaction may vary depending on the specific tour and the wellbeing of the animals at the time. Our guides will always ensure the experience is safe and respectful for both guests and animals.

A:

Sometimes, but not reliably. Puppies are typically born in spring and grow quickly before winter. Our kennel focuses on the dogs’ welfare and does not time litters for tourist viewing. If seeing puppies is a priority, we recommend booking with a kennel that specifically offers that experience.

A:

Some of our tours are family-friendly and suitable for children and infants, including this 5km tour. It’s important to dress children very warmly, as they are more vulnerable to cold and frostbite. If temperatures drop below -20 °C (-4 °F), we may modify the tour to accommodate the coldest or youngest participants for their safety.

A:

Snowmobile safaris can be physically demanding and involve vibrations that may not be safe for everyone. For safety reasons, we do not recommend this tour for pregnant women, as the snowmobile ride or sledge pulled by a snowmobile may cause discomfort or potential risk.

o

If you have any pre-existing health conditions (such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, or back/hip problems), please consult your doctor before booking. Participation is at your own risk, and it’s important that you feel confident in your ability to take part.

If special arrangements are needed (such as separate transport), additional costs may apply.

We also highly recommend personal travel insurance, as our liability only covers damages under Finnish law and motor vehicle insurance.

A:

We specialize in small-group snowmobile tours to ensure a more personal and high-quality experience for every guest. Typically, each guide leads a group of up to 7 snowmobiles. During high season, group sizes may be slightly larger, but in such cases, we always assign an additional guide to maintain safety and comfort throughout the tour.

A:

To drive a snowmobile in Finland, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving license that entitles you to drive a car — typically category B (passenger car or van).

  • Your physical license must be with you during the tour (photos or digital/mobile versions are not accepted).
  • The license must be written in the Latin alphabet, or be accompanied by an official translation into Finnish or English, or be an international driving permit (IDP).
  • If your license doesn’t have category B, but shows you’re allowed to drive a car under another system, you’ll need written proof or clarification from a reliable source (again, in Latin alphabet or translated).

Please also make sure you meet Finland's age and health requirements for driving.

A:

If you’re looking for an active experience, we recommend tours like Arctic lake floating, snowmobile safaris, or reindeer sleigh rides combined with Northern Lights hunting. These tours offer exciting physical activity and a chance to explore Lapland’s wilderness actively.

For those seeking a more relaxing and peaceful experience, consider our traditional sauna with dinner and Northern Lights viewing, guided Northern Lights searches by comfortable transport, or visits to unique places like the Snow Hotel and Ice Restaurant. These options focus on unwinding while still enjoying the magical Arctic atmosphere.

Whether you want to get your heart pumping or simply relax and soak in the serene surroundings, we have the perfect tour to match your style.

A:

Definitely! Our tours run in groups led by experienced guides who know the area well. You’ll feel safe and comfortable while soaking in the beautiful Arctic surroundings.

A:

Absolutely! Our tours are designed with beginners in mind — no previous experience is required for either snowmobiling or husky sledding. Safety and enjoyment are our top priorities.

For snowmobilig Finnish law requires that all drivers:

  • Are at least 18 years old
  • Hold a valid driving license (EU or international)
  • Follow the guide’s instructions at all times

Before every tour, we provide a full safety briefing and driving instructions, and you’ll get used to the snowmobile in a safe environment before heading out on the trail.

Important: Snowmobile drivers must hold a valid driving license. EU/EEA licenses are fully accepted. For non-EU licenses, please check if your country’s license is valid in Finland — in some cases, an International Driving Permit (IDP) may be required. You can verify your eligibility at traficom.fi.

For self driving Husky safaris, you don’t need any experience either. Whether you're driving the sled or just enjoying the ride as a passenger, our guides will teach you everything you need to know. The dogs are well-trained, and the trails are safe and scenic — perfect for first-timers.

So don’t worry — whether you're here for adventure or just to try something new, we've got you covered. Just bring your sense of curiosity — we’ll take care of the rest.
