ABOUT THIS TOUR

Evening Escape: Snowmobile Safari & Campfire in Rovaniemi - Your Arctic Evening Adventure

Embark on an extraordinary evening journey into the heart of the Arctic wilderness with our "Evening Escape: Snowmobile Safari and Campfire" tour from Rovaniemi. This captivating 3-hour adventure is designed to immerse you in Lapland's pristine nature, offering a perfect blend of thrilling exploration and serene atmosphere. It’s an ideal way to experience the winter landscape by night, with the added possibility of a magical natural light show.

What to Expect on Your Evening Snowmobile Safari?

Your adventure begins with a comprehensive safety briefing and snowmobile driving instructions from our professional English-speaking guide. Once you're comfortable, you'll set off, driving your powerful snowmobile through Rovaniemi's enchanting snow-covered forests. Feel the crisp Arctic air and embrace the profound silence of the wilderness as you glide along picturesque winter trails. The routes follow established snowmobile trails, ensuring a safe and controlled experience in the night landscape.

Midway through your safari, we'll make a special stop deep within the tranquil forest. Here, your guide will light a crackling campfire, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere under the vast Arctic sky. This is your moment to relax, soak in the peaceful surroundings, and enjoy the unique ambiance of the northern night.

While at the campfire, you'll savor delicious Lappish snacks and grill traditional Finnish sausages over the open fire. Enjoy warm drinks and fresh pastry, creating truly unforgettable memories in this magical setting.

Northern Lights as a Special Bonus:

As you relax by the fire under the night sky, there is a possibility to catch a glimpse of the spectacular Aurora Borealis. While the tour is not solely focused on actively chasing the lights (as routes are limited for safety on snowmobile safaris), its evening timing and wilderness location provide an opportunity for observation if conditions are favorable. The Northern Lights are a beautiful bonus to your snowmobile adventure and campfire experience. Your guide can share fascinating tales and facts about this elusive natural phenomenon.

  • Operated in Rovaniemi during winter months (weather permitting).
  • Each person driving a snowmobile must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving license (B). Please remember to take your driving license with you.
  • Two persons per snowmobile. For groups of 3 persons or other odd number of people, we highly recommend purchasing one single driver supplement.
  • Snowmobile driver is held liable for any damages caused to the vehicle. Personal self-liability is max. 990 €/person/snowmobile/case of accident. By purchasing a 20 € self-liability insurance before the start of the safari, you reduce the amount of self-liability down to max. 150 €/person/snowmobile/case of accident. Self-liability insurance is personal and valid in one snowmobile safari.
  • Children 4-14 years old are seated in a sledge behind the guide’s snowmobile. We highly recommend one of the parents to sit with a small child in the sledge for the child’s comfort and safety.  Parents, please consider if this activity is suitable for your small children due to outdoor stay and late timing. Not suitable for infants under 4 years old.

Frequently asked questions

(See all questions and answers here)
A:

For most of our snowmobile tours, we provide high-quality thermal outer clothing to keep you warm and safe during the adventure. This includes a thermal overall, winter boots, mittens, a balaclava, woolen socks, and a helmet. A scarf is also available if needed.

You're welcome to wear your own winter clothes and boots if you prefer, but we strongly recommend using our gear - it’s specially designed for Arctic conditions and will keep you comfortable even in very cold weather.

Underneath the thermal suit, we recommend wearing your own thermal underwear, fleece or wool layers, and sport or ski socks. If the temperature is below -15°C, you may also wear your own jacket underneath the overall for extra warmth.

A:

Yes, absolutely! Most of our snowmobile safaris are suitable for children aged 4 and up (please check the specific age recommendations on each tour page).

For safety reasons, children under 7 years old must ride in a covered sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Only the guide is allowed to pull the sleigh, as it requires special experience and skill.

If your child is at least 140 cm tall, they can ride on the snowmobile behind an adult - in this case, the child is charged the adult price.

We always prioritize the safety and comfort of our younger guests, so feel free to contact us if you're unsure about which tour best suits your family.

A:

Snowmobile safaris can be physically demanding and involve vibrations that may not be safe for everyone. For safety reasons, we do not recommend this tour for pregnant women, as the snowmobile ride or sledge pulled by a snowmobile may cause discomfort or potential risk.

o

If you have any pre-existing health conditions (such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, or back/hip problems), please consult your doctor before booking. Participation is at your own risk, and it’s important that you feel confident in your ability to take part.

If special arrangements are needed (such as separate transport), additional costs may apply.

We also highly recommend personal travel insurance, as our liability only covers damages under Finnish law and motor vehicle insurance.

A:

Please be on time! Our tours follow a strict schedule, and if you miss the hotel pick-up, you will not be able to join later. Arriving separately by taxi or private car is usually not possible, as it may disrupt the program and group safety. Plan ahead — we appreciate your understanding.

A:

No prior experience is needed! This safari is beginner-friendly. Before the ride, your guide will give clear safety instructions and a driving briefing. Most guests ride snowmobiles for the first time, and it’s easier than you might expect.
