Embark on an unforgettable "Snowmobile Family Safari," specially designed for families with young children seeking a thrilling and safe winter adventure in Rovaniemi, Lapland! This unique 3-hour program offers an exciting 15-kilometer snowmobile ride through the beautiful Lappish landscape, combined with a very special highlight: children get to ride their own mini-snowmobiles! It's the perfect way for everyone to enjoy the magic of Arctic winter.
Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi city center or other major hotels in the area. After a warm welcome and comprehensive safety instructions for snowmobile driving, you'll hop onto your snowmobile, ready for exploration.
Parents will have the exciting opportunity to ride their own snowmobiles along picturesque forest trails in the Rovaniemi area. Meanwhile, children (typically those who don't meet the height/age requirements to drive or sit as adult passengers) will enjoy a comfortable and safe journey, traveling in a spacious sleigh pulled by the guide's snowmobile. This allows everyone to soak in the beauty of the vast, snow-covered Lappish nature. We will make several stops along the way to admire the stunning winter scenery and capture memorable family photos. The actual snowmobile riding time is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes, covering about 15 kilometers.
After the main snowmobiling adventure for adults, it's time for the children to have their moment of thrilling fun! We'll arrive at a special, safe area specifically designed for kids. Here, children aged approximately 4 to 12 years (height permitting) can drive mini-snowmobiles under supervision. Our guides will be on hand to provide assistance and ensure their safety, making this a truly unforgettable experience for the younger adventurers.
Simultaneously, the guide will light up a cozy bonfire, creating a warm and inviting picnic spot. The whole family can gather around the crackling fire to grill traditional Finnish "makkara" sausages and enjoy delicious Lappish berry juice, keeping everyone warm and energized. This relaxed picnic is the perfect way to share stories and create lasting family memories.

Snowmobile safaris can be physically demanding and involve vibrations that may not be safe for everyone. For safety reasons, we do not recommend this tour for pregnant women, as the snowmobile ride or sledge pulled by a snowmobile may cause discomfort or potential risk.

If you have any pre-existing health conditions (such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, or back/hip problems), please consult your doctor before booking. Participation is at your own risk, and it’s important that you feel confident in your ability to take part.
If special arrangements are needed (such as separate transport), additional costs may apply.
We also highly recommend personal travel insurance, as our liability only covers damages under Finnish law and motor vehicle insurance.
Yes, all snowmobiles are insured, but the driver is financially responsible for any damage caused. In case of an accident, the flat-rate self-liability is €900 per driver. You can reduce this liability to €200 per accident by purchasing an optional self-liability waiver:
This option is available during check-in before the safari begins. We strongly recommend it for peace of mind.
Yes, absolutely! Most of our snowmobile safaris are suitable for children aged 4 and up (please check the specific age recommendations on each tour page).
For safety reasons, children under 7 years old must ride in a covered sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Only the guide is allowed to pull the sleigh, as it requires special experience and skill.
If your child is at least 140 cm tall, they can ride on the snowmobile behind an adult - in this case, the child is charged the adult price.
We always prioritize the safety and comfort of our younger guests, so feel free to contact us if you're unsure about which tour best suits your family.
For most of our snowmobile tours, we provide high-quality thermal outer clothing to keep you warm and safe during the adventure. This includes a thermal overall, winter boots, mittens, a balaclava, woolen socks, and a helmet. A scarf is also available if needed.
You're welcome to wear your own winter clothes and boots if you prefer, but we strongly recommend using our gear - it’s specially designed for Arctic conditions and will keep you comfortable even in very cold weather.
Underneath the thermal suit, we recommend wearing your own thermal underwear, fleece or wool layers, and sport or ski socks. If the temperature is below -15°C, you may also wear your own jacket underneath the overall for extra warmth.
To drive a snowmobile in Finland, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving license that entitles you to drive a car — typically category B (passenger car or van).
Please also make sure you meet Finland's age and health requirements for driving.
We specialize in small-group snowmobile tours to ensure a more personal and high-quality experience for every guest. Typically, each guide leads a group of up to 7 snowmobiles. During high season, group sizes may be slightly larger, but in such cases, we always assign an additional guide to maintain safety and comfort throughout the tour.
Please be on time! Our tours follow a strict schedule, and if you miss the hotel pick-up, you will not be able to join later. Arriving separately by taxi or private car is usually not possible, as it may disrupt the program and group safety. Plan ahead — we appreciate your understanding.
No prior experience is needed! This safari is beginner-friendly. Before the ride, your guide will give clear safety instructions and a driving briefing. Most guests ride snowmobiles for the first time, and it’s easier than you might expect.
