Frequently asked questions

(See all questions and answers here)
A:

During the tour, your guide will prepare a cozy outdoor Arctic lunch over an open fire. The menu typically includes grilled barbecue sausages, fresh bread, vegetables, hot berry juice, and gingerbread cookies. You'll also have a chance to roast marshmallows over the fire - a sweet highlight of the day! If you have dietary restrictions or prefer to bring your own snacks, feel free to do so - we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

A:

Yes - the minimum age is 15 years, and participants should be comfortable with moderate physical activity, including hiking in snowy terrain and ascending or descending uneven paths. The tour is not suitable for guests with mobility issues. Please consult your doctor before joining if you have heart conditions, respiratory issues, or other health concerns.

A:

Please be on time! Our tours follow a strict schedule, and if you miss the hotel pick-up, you will not be able to join later. Arriving separately by taxi or private car is usually not possible, as it may disrupt the program and group safety. Plan ahead — we appreciate your understanding.

A:

Dress warmly! You’ll be outdoors for much of the tour. We recommend wearing thermal underwear, a fleece or wool mid-layer, a winter jacket and pants, a warm hat, gloves or mittens, and insulated boots. Temperatures can be cold, especially in December and January.

A:

In winter, Korouoma transforms into a frozen fairy tale. The park's deep canyon becomes home to enormous frozen waterfalls that shimmer in the cold Arctic air. These natural ice formations can reach up to 60 meters high and are considered among the most beautiful winter sights in Lapland. It's like walking inside a snow globe!

A:

You’ll spend several hours outdoors in cold and possibly snowy conditions, so dressing in layers is essential. We recommend wearing thermal underwear, a fleece or wool mid-layer, waterproof winter jacket and pants, a warm hat, scarf, gloves or mittens, and insulated boots. Please avoid jeans or cotton. We recommend bringing a small backpack, water bottle, and a camera or phone with a power bank to capture the icy landscapes.

A:

We recommend not scheduling flights or long-distance transfers immediately after the tour. While the program is planned to last around 6 hours, weather and road conditions in Lapland can cause delays. Always allow extra time when booking multiple activities in one day.

A:

There are basic outdoor toilet facilities near the parking area at the start of the trail. However, there are no restrooms along the hiking route, so we recommend using the facilities before starting the hike.

We had a great tour to the frozen falls with Alex. Fortunately it was just us for that day so we actually had a private tour! Alex was great and professional! The falls and the trail is wonderful and special. We sure recommend to visit there in small group such as Nordic Adventures offer. Thank you Alex for a wonderful day in the nature!

WOW!! Frozen Waterfalls, Mother Nature at its Best

What a Beautiful landscape, to see frozen waterfalls was breath taking. We took the small tour 2km, as I took my 2 children (11- boy & 14 -girl) They really enjoyed it, but the 11 yr old towards the end got bored, and cold. We also had a break after seeing the 3rd and final waterfall, where we chopped wood, & made a camp fire, so we could BBQ sausages for lunch with a hot chocolate, and Marshmallows. Marshmallows went down well with the children. There is some steep track, but has some rope to hold on too. if you step of the beaten track the snow can be deep, and slippy, so do this with caution.
The guide pick us up from our hotel , and dropped us back, He was pleasant, but quite happy to answer question, but didn't really engage in general conversation.
My Only Tip is make sure you use the toilet at the petrol station stop, as in the forest you have to use a dry hole.
The trip from the Rovaniemi is just over an hour, you are hiking for about an hour and half, and stop for lunch for about an hour. Total time for the trip is about 5 hrs.

Stunning waterfalls

This was a great way to see a very unique landscape, three spectacular frozen waterfalls. Our guide picked us up form our hotel and drove us the hour to Korouoma. A walk down a well marked path brought us into the canyon. We followed the partially frozen stream through some very pretty scenery. The three waterfalls were each quite different to the other and all equally spectacular. Some of the track was quite steep but there were good rope hand holds in those areas.
After the second waterfalll our guides directed us towards the third and final waterfall whilst he went back to the bottom of the track into the canyon to get a fire started for our simple lunch snack.
Lunch was a hot drink, sausage on the BBQ and ginger cookies.
We then had the long steep climb out of the canyon back to the car.
We were there in early December and the waterfalls were not completely frozen, I imagine later in the winter they would be even more amazing.
Our guide was a very quiet person, happy to answer questions but not forthcoming with information if not asked.

Frozen waterfalls adventure in Korouoma National Park and Reindeer Farm

December 3, 2018

We went to Korouoma National Park to see the frozen waterfalls. It was 5km hiking ( if you are not used hiking, i would recommend the smaller tour) but it was worth it!
The views are very beautiful, you are really walking into a winter wonderland.
We also visited the reindeer farm with Alex and it was just lovely!
Alex is very kind, he tells you stories about the farmers, the animals, ... with a cup of coffee.
And then of course you have the reindeers. You can feed them, take pictures, a small ride in the forest.. one word AMAZING! Don't hesitate, just do it!
