You’ll spend several hours outdoors in cold and possibly snowy conditions, so dressing in layers is essential. We recommend wearing thermal underwear, a fleece or wool mid-layer, waterproof winter jacket and pants, a warm hat, scarf, gloves or mittens, and insulated boots. Please avoid jeans or cotton. We recommend bringing a small backpack, water bottle, and a camera or phone with a power bank to capture the icy landscapes.

A:

There are basic outdoor toilet facilities near the parking area at the start of the trail. However, there are no restrooms along the hiking route, so we recommend using the facilities before starting the hike.

Dress warmly! You’ll be outdoors for much of the tour. We recommend wearing thermal underwear, a fleece or wool mid-layer, a winter jacket and pants, a warm hat, gloves or mittens, and insulated boots. Temperatures can be cold, especially in December and January.

During the tour, your guide will prepare a cozy outdoor Arctic lunch over an open fire. The menu typically includes grilled barbecue sausages, fresh bread, vegetables, hot berry juice, and gingerbread cookies. You'll also have a chance to roast marshmallows over the fire - a sweet highlight of the day! If you have dietary restrictions or prefer to bring your own snacks, feel free to do so - we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

A:

Please be on time! Our tours follow a strict schedule, and if you miss the hotel pick-up, you will not be able to join later. Arriving separately by taxi or private car is usually not possible, as it may disrupt the program and group safety. Plan ahead — we appreciate your understanding.

A:

In winter, Korouoma transforms into a frozen fairy tale. The park's deep canyon becomes home to enormous frozen waterfalls that shimmer in the cold Arctic air. These natural ice formations can reach up to 60 meters high and are considered among the most beautiful winter sights in Lapland. It's like walking inside a snow globe!

A:

Yes - the minimum age is 15 years, and participants should be comfortable with moderate physical activity, including hiking in snowy terrain and ascending or descending uneven paths. The tour is not suitable for guests with mobility issues. Please consult your doctor before joining if you have heart conditions, respiratory issues, or other health concerns.

A:

We recommend not scheduling flights or long-distance transfers immediately after the tour. While the program is planned to last around 6 hours, weather and road conditions in Lapland can cause delays. Always allow extra time when booking multiple activities in one day.

Hike in the Snow

February 7, 2022



The hike was great fun - the scenery along the 5km hike was amazing. There were some parts that were a bit slippery but the 'problem' could be avoided by sitting & sliding down the path, which added to the fun. Alex was very nice, help and knowledgable. Appreciated the little BBQ we had by the campfire, with sausages, marshmallows and some glögi to recharge our energy before the last stretch of uphill hike back to the carpark. I would definitely recommend this tour with Alex!

Great day with great guide

The scenery that we came across during the hike was no doubt beautiful. The trail was manageable, though slippery at certain icy paths. Alex was attentive and helpful in cautioning and assisting us throughout. He took great care of our group, and also kept with high standards of hygiene when preparing and barbecuing the food for us during the camp fire.

Prior to the hike, we had checked out from our apartment with our luggage, and were grateful when Alex allowed us leave them in his vehicle for the hike. What came beyond that was when he was flexible to drop us at the central train station after the hike to deposit the luggage, and gave us a ride back to the city centre for some final shopping before we left Rovaniemi later in the evening by train.

Thank you so much!

I cannot recommend Nordic Adventures highly enough. Our guide - Alex - arrived at our hotel on time to pick us up and drove us to the national park to the start of our tour. As we were a small group Alex asked if we’d prefer to do a longer walking route, which we were delighted with as it gave us more of an experience. Alex pointed out deer and other wildlife along the way. We were very impressed by his knowledge and passion for nature. The traditional Finnish sausage around a fire was a lot better than we’d expected. In all it was a superb experience that was made all the better by having an excellent guide. Thank you!
