Part 1: Ranua Wildlife Park Expedition & Lunch

  • Visit the Northernmost Zoo in the World: Begin with a scenic 1-hour drive from Rovaniemi to Ranua Wildlife Park, nestled deep in the Lappish forest. Home to over 50 Arctic animal species, including polar bears, arctic foxes, lynxes, wolves, and wolverines, the 3km trail offers a safe, accessible, and educational experience.
  • Learn Along the Way: Your knowledgeable guide will share fascinating facts about Arctic wildlife and their incredible adaptations to life above the Arctic Circle.

  • Souvenir Stop: There's also time to browse local shops and the Fazer sweets store for some Finnish treats to bring home

Part 2: Authentic Finnish Sauna & Lake Experience

  • Travel to a Secluded Lakeside Retreat: From Ranua, continue your journey to a private lakeside sauna, hidden in the peaceful wilderness.
  • Authentic Wood-Fired Sauna: Step into a classic Finnish wood-burning sauna and learn the traditions behind this vital part of Finnish culture. You’ll even see how locals heat the fire by hand — no electricity here!

While Ranua Wildlife Park is home to over 50 Arctic species - including the famous polar bear - we cannot guarantee that every animal will be visible during your visit. Some animals may be resting in their shelters, eating, or simply hiding. Many Arctic creatures are surprisingly good at blending into their surroundings! Our guide will do their best to help you spot as many animals as possible, share insights, and even point out hidden ones - but sightings can vary depending on the animals' natural behavior and the time of day.

A:

Please be on time! Our tours follow a strict schedule, and if you miss the hotel pick-up, you will not be able to join later. Arriving separately by taxi or private car is usually not possible, as it may disrupt the program and group safety. Plan ahead — we appreciate your understanding.

A:

No, ice swimming is completely optional - but definitely a bucket list Arctic adventure for the bold! Many guests prefer to simply relax in the warm sauna and watch others take the plunge. You’re welcome to enjoy the experience at your own pace and comfort level.

And if you're not ready to dip in the icy lake, rolling in fresh snow is another exhilarating and traditional Finnish way to cool off - just as thrilling and unforgettable!

It’s all about embracing Lapland your way - no pressure, just pure Arctic magic.

Wonderful day!

October 27, 2018



We spent the entire day with Alex!

Alex was an incredible tour guide, he was very knowledgeable and answered any question we had!

We started by going to the zoo and being in down season, there were only two of us on the trip! He knew the animals' names and helped point them out. We even stopped to see the reindeer on the road. After, we had a great buffet lunch at the zoo and did a little bit of shopping.

In the evening, we did the sauna and traditional salmon dinner. It was a great experience! Alex was very helpful and the private lake was gorgeous! Unfortunately, it was too cloudy for us to see the Northern lights but Alex made sure to tell us when and where to see them on another day. He was very helpful with everything and friendly.

The lake and cottage are wonderful and it was very professionally done!

A truly wonderful day overall!

We would definitely recommend this tour for people coming to Rovaniemi! It was a very memorable experience. With us not having a car, nor being familiar with the area, it is definitely worth the price!
