ABOUT THIS TOUR

Traditional Finnish Sauna & Ice Dip by a Arctic Lake – Rovaniemi: Feel the Real Lapland

This "Finnish Home and Sauna Tour" offers an authentic Finnish experience designed to immerse you in local culture and relaxation. Departing from Rovaniemi, this 4-hour tour takes place at a private lakeside venue, approximately 30km from the city, amidst picturesque Lappish landscapes. It provides a unique opportunity to understand and experience life near the Arctic Circle in a traditional setting.

What to Expect on Your Authentic Finnish Experience:

Your tour begins with a convenient hotel pick-up in Rovaniemi. You will be transported to our private lakeside venue.

Part 1: Traditional Wood-Fired Sauna Experience

  • Authentic Sauna: Experience a traditional Finnish wood-burning sauna. This sauna has historical roots, dating back to times when it was used as a smoke sauna, offering a deep cultural immersion. Don’t worry if it’s your first time – your guide will explain everything, and you can enjoy the experience at your own pace.
  • Relaxation & Culture: Learn about the traditions and cultural significance of the Finnish sauna, a cornerstone of Finnish well-being and daily life.

Part 2: Invigorating Ice Swimming / Snow Rolling

  • Arctic Challenge: After the sauna, it’s time for the ultimate Arctic contrast – a plunge into a hole in the frozen lake. For many guests, this is a once-in-a-lifetime, bucket-list achievement that delivers an unforgettable adrenaline rush followed by a surge of endorphins. The initial shock quickly gives way to a surprising warmth and euphoria.
  • Bucket List Moment: Stepping into the icy water is more than just a challenge – it’s a celebration of courage and presence. Many describe it as a moment of clarity and exhilaration, a story to tell for years.
  • Winter Adaptation: In winter conditions with deep snow, participants may also opt for a refreshing roll in the snow, a common practice after a warm sauna. This activity provides a unique sensory contrast.
  • Guided & Safe: Your guide will explain everything and ensure the process is safe and comfortable. You’ll be able to try it at your own pace – no pressure, just opportunity.

Part 3: Lappish Hospitality & Snacks by Fireplace

  • Local Culture: Guests are invited into a Finnish home setting at the private venue. This provides an opportunity to experience local culture and understand daily life near the Arctic Circle.
  • Relaxation & Refreshments: Enjoy snacks and warm drinks by a cozy fireplace. This offers a comfortable setting to relax and reflect on the experience.

This small-group tour is designed to ensure a personalized and intimate experience, allowing for full attention from the guides and a genuine connection with the Lappish countryside.

It was the best choice to do the wood burned sauna tour with Nordic Adventures Rovaniemi! Alex and Tanja are so nice people, we had the whole sauna for us, had a fantastic and romantic evening with a dip in the icecold lake! It was amazing! After that we had a very good dinner with finnish sausages, potatoe salad, homemade potatoe bread, berry tea and gingerbread cookies. After all we had a talk to Alex and Tanja about the nature and habbits in finland. We warmly recommend everyone to do this tour! Thank you for that special experience!

Amazing experience with welcoming tour guide and delicious snacks and chats with the owners. After a quick guidance you can manage the woodburned sauna yourself meanwhile you enjoy your private time away from everything. And if you are brave enough a quick dip into the frosty lake can cool down your overheated body ;)
