No, ice swimming is completely optional - but definitely a bucket list Arctic adventure for the bold! Many guests prefer to simply relax in the warm sauna and watch others take the plunge. You’re welcome to enjoy the experience at your own pace and comfort level.

And if you're not ready to dip in the icy lake, rolling in fresh snow is another exhilarating and traditional Finnish way to cool off - just as thrilling and unforgettable!

It’s all about embracing Lapland your way - no pressure, just pure Arctic magic.

Professionally organized trip

Exceptionally well organized and professional operator in Lapland. We booked four tours through Viator, and the operator cancelled two. But the tour by Nordic Adventure was on time and professionally managed. Before the tour, Mr. Alex, the operator, replied to all our queries and was on time for pickup at our hotel. We headed to the Zoo in his comfortable van. He explained the animals in the zoo; later, we had a great lunch at the zoo, then we headed to the traditional sauna, which was kept warm by his wife. She explained all about the sauna and dipping in cold water. For two hours, we had our free time in the sauna and then dipped in ice-cold water. I did it twice and enjoyed the whole new experience. We then had a great home-cooked dinner. Salmon smoke was the best we had in Finland during our whole trip. It was fresh and tasted fantastic. There were also homemade ginger cookies, hot berry juice, fresh baby tomatoes, cucumber, and homemadebread. Undoubtedly, this was an excellent experience for both of us, and we will surely visit again and use Nordic Adventures for our future travel in Lapland. Both Alex and his wife hosted us, and we felt at home. Thank you for the beautiful arrangements.

The best way to end our experience in Lapland

We highly recommend this tour because it's a full day adventure guided by some of the nicest people we have ever met. We got to see the animals at Ranua zoo which Alex(our guide) was very knowledgeable about. Afterwards, we went to the cabin which is situated in the most beautiful place, in the middle of the forest with a lake in front of it. There we met Tanya, who was extremely nice and told us how the sauna and ice floating works. We tried ice floating for the first time and it was a fun, relaxing experience. They even let us climb on the ice and play around. We got to cross sauna and ice dipping off our bucketlist and it was amazing. Afterwards we ate dinner together(salmon smoked by Tanya herself) and we chatted about different finnish traditions and customs. All in all it was the best way to end our trip to Lapland and we highly recommend you try this experience!

Fantastic experience with Alex & Tanya

We were two friends trying this "Best of Lapland"-experience in February 2021 - and I can only give my absolute warmest recommendations. It was amazing to experience the real Finnish wood-burning sauna (a traditional sauna from the 70s, and in beautiful condition), and then to jump in the lake to cool down. Unfortunately we didn't see any Northern Lights, but the night was still beautiful, and the surroundings of the small cottage were so amazing, quiet and isolated. We also had a very nice Lappish dinner, the beetroot salad was to die for ;-) and Tanya and Alex were telling us a lot about Lapland, the area, the conditions all year round before we were taken back to Rovaniemi and dropped off at our hotel. A great experience all around.
